I remember Dexcool made my water pump in my 92 Civic EX leak.

It's very chemically different than Honda's, and does not play well together. If you DO choose to go with dexcool, be sure to COMPLETELY flush out all the old stuff.

Here's a thread I was just looking at on the topic:

My personal choice is to go ahead and use Honda Type-II premix. This is what they put in their 2002+ cars, and they recommend a 10 year wait until the first coolant change!

The "extended life" coolants like Dexcool are silicate free coolants. I have been using such coolants in my Accord for years without incident. It is always good to flush out as much of the old coolant as you can before ANY change so there should be no problem going with this in lieu of Honda coolant.

Be sure to sure clean (distilled or deionized) water when you mix the solution so you don't get scale deposits.

flush the car while running , better than draining because you get everything out ! the procedure is in the how to 's !

Yeah, I forgot to mention I always used distilled water. Since I have an R/O (reverse osmosis) system at home I just use the water from it now.
