I have a 1987 honda accord with a bad alternator. Now i know homda recommends removing the cv axle, which is more than i would like to do. I have heard is you have the carbed version, which i do, you can pull the airbox off and get to the alternator and shimmy it down the firewall to get it out. I was hoping to get some advice... 1.) Is it really possible
2.) And advice as to things to make it easier/possible

Please help and thank for any advice

I have an LX-i (fuel injected), so I cannot confirm whether removal from above is feasible on the carbed cars. It is feasible in the fuel injected ones. You might find the discussion at http://www.3geez.com/forum/3geez-accords/60546-installing-alternator.html worth reading, although it pertains to fuel injected models.

Some have claimed to be able to remove it from the top by sliding it behind the block, toward the trans and the rat's nest of coolant and vacuum lines over there. Can't confirm as I have FI. Good luck.
