I need this question answered, I asked it in my other post but it had to much jibberish in it to really ask the question. Do I really need the nut that goes on the end of the adjusting screw on the altenator? Is that a safety measure to make sure the screw stays where it is, or does it actually serve a real purpose? Im about to jump back into it and fixed my stuff again. (Its at the end of letter A in the photo)

no you actually don't need it, but it helps in making small adjustments to belt tension. just my opinion I could be wrong.

It worked for me, not too long ago, the stud broke off and the adjusting nut was gone, it was loose enough that when you started the car, the belts would make noise, then when it got traction, would stop making noice. If that bolt wasnt there, the belt would have flown out from being too loose. Thats a very good safety measure. I'd use it again just incase that happens again.

YES! you need it!
Look at the long bolt that "A" has, it goes to hole "C" then it tensions the belt via nut "C" and you lock it in place via nut "A" (the one you lost). Nut "C" is not ment to hold the tension all the time, it will unscrew itself out with vibration if bolt "A" is not tight.

Cheers!

Yes, you need it that's why Honda put it there in the first place. I'd say leave it alone unless taking that nut off will give you horsepower.

actually it will because then your belts will get loose and stop causing a drag on your engine!
