View Full Version : auto gear selector cable removal help needed

you know the cable that goes from the gear selector inside the car to the trans. how do you get it out of the trans. this is an auto.

I think You have to remove the cable from the shifter first. then remove the cable from the trans.
Drop the exhaust pipe from the header to the cat... then drop the heat sheild.
go inside the car and remove all the the plastic covers from the shifter, remove the plate that shows you what gear you are in.
put the car in D3 then pop out the silver clip from the cable. then go back under the car and unbolt the two 10mm bolts. then unbolt the cable hanger that is inbetween the shifter and the trans... more on the trans side.
go back to the trans and remove the flywheel dust sheild... there are a few things in the way you will have to remove but you should have to truble getting the plate out. once the plate is off I you'll have access to the cable... from there I have no idea how to get it off... I think it clips into place?
