It is getting closer to the time that I finally get my car back. I decided not to wait and just had him shave the front door handles now. I was going to wait for paint but I thought it would look funny.

I hope this turns out good. It is so hard to see a car being worked on and imagining it looking good at the end.

They are off of the Prelude Si that we have. It was easy to get wheels for that car when they were just laying around.

Wow, he made some fast progress on it all of a sudden. What color is it being painted, I dont think I heard that much.

Is it going to be a primer machine for now or is it getting the full job right off the bat?

Paint it something bright and lowriderish :D

Nate.

The prelude wheels won't fit a 3rd gen. There are a lot of decent Integra wheels that will fit it though.

As of now, I plan on painting it 2002 Monte Carlo Red. It isn't that great on a stock car but for some reason it is gorgeous when it is aftermarket paint. I have the money to paint it now, but I still want to wait a little while. It is good to let all of the plastic shrink and take the time to make sure everything is perfect before spraying it.

Shaved door handles? How are you going to get in the car? Through the windows? :D I'm sure the car has a good owner and it will become one extraordinary machine.

Looks like he did a very good job on the moldings. Good idea on holding off the paint. That way you can add the stuff you want without worrying about scratching the paint.

I just hope the final work is as perfect as I require. I guess I can go in there an finish up the details if he is sloppy but I really donŐt want to.

This is how you get into the car with shaved handles...

Thank you, thank you very much

I'm seriously considering getting these wheels for it...the black opal ones. I want 18s in the front and 19s in the rear. It should look pretty good tuckin' half the rim when I get airbags.

get fender skirts for the ass. ...it'll kinda resemble the 'ol school "lead sled" mercs of the late 40's/early 50's.

Now that would be custom!

...i just don't know if it'll look good.

Nah, that stuff isn't for me. I don't build my cars to be crazy customs. I prefer to try and make them as smooth and as clean as possible. I try to take what I have and make it look better. That is why there are never any body kits or wings for me. The only really extreme thing that I do is that it has to be as low as possible.

yeah, that's what I was gettin at. I'm not talking a body kit or anything extravagant like that, I'm talking a fender skirt, aka. a metal insert (removeable) that will go over the wheel well to give it more of that "slab-side" look.

http://www.yowautoclassics.com/55%20tbird%20c.jpg

Hell yeah, a modern day lead sled (import none-the-less)

....like i said, I don't even know if this would look good, but what the hell it's worth throwing it out there.

**edit** that's kind'of a shitty pic, but it's the best I could find in 10 seconds of searching. Just to get an idea.

Hey, um...doesnt bondo flex? What did he use to fill the door handles?

pearldrop

He welded in metal filler plates to shave everything. When you weld, there is almost always a little bit of warping in the metal so you will have to cover it with plastic filler (not Bondo, it is crap). Plastic filler does flex and it doesn't shrink much like Bondo does.
On the side moldings he welded them over and then used a fiberglass putty to layer over it.
But it is all metal and the body filler isn't over 1/4 inch thick anywhere.

So this shaved door handle kit....tell me it opens the doors for you....i think i'm going to bust my pants if i see the finished product in person...good work bro, but does that shaved handle kit open the doors automatically?

You have to buy a kit like the one he showed in the picture. Then you use a transmitter like an alarm and it releases the door and usually their is a spring loaded popper to push the door open enough for you to grab.
