I have a 86 Honda Accord lx, 4spd auto with carb. Is what I have circled in red thermo valve A it has vac lines# 17,18 and 19 attached? If it is, does it have anything to do with the fast idle?

When I warm the car up it doesn't kick down on its own anymore I have to bring it down with the gas pedal. When the car is driven awhile and is warmed up and it sits for about 5-10 mins I get back in and the car wants to go into fast idle again. Could this be the problem?

Is there a way to check it?
How hard is it to change it?
Do I have to drain some antifreeze out?
Will I need to bleed the system when done?

I can't help you cause I don't have a carbed Accord. But I can give you the Honda manual oracle:

Spend some time reading through section 11 of the 1989 Accord Service Manual and you'll understand everything a lot better.
