Hello everyone,

Paul Aerodeck86's custom gauges page has just been updated. As many of you know the gauges were made available as a free download, however some users experienced problems with printing and installation of the gauge faces. The gauge downloads have been modified (by Paul) and a more detailed and comprehensive installation procedure has been written.

Visit Paul's Project Page by clicking below:

Y3G,

The images are 300x300dpi. When openning the images in Windows Imaging(procedure particular for this one) I open the file, then I right click in the pic, go to properties, go to the resolution tab, and then select 300dpi x 300 dpi in the drop down menu. It should be the proper size then.

I also just printed out the speedometer gauge face and ran out to my baby to see if it was the right size and it fits perfectly (visual check). Also Win Imaging will magnify the crap out of images if you set it for "Best Fit". And in the properties it should tell you the actual real world size for the image. Hope this clarifies it up a bit. :D

Glad people are taking interest in these. Paul is THE man.

89AccordLvr,

Do you mean if all the gauges are in 300dpi x 300dpi format?

If so, yes all of the gauges Paul made are in 300X300dpi.

MrBen

Yes but anything white will be green. Unless you change the color of the bulbs above the guages. Or put a blacklight in.

I just proceeded to screw around with the settings on my speedometer (image) and i found that if you use the drop-down menu for size (this is in the properties, tab "Size") and change it to anything but custom, the size at the bottom is going to have to be filled in manually and the image gets screwed. Also the F/T gauges seem to have their size preset at 14.44 inches, which if resized in Imaging will give only a fraction of the image being shown. In Photoshop the image can be resized but some sharpness is lost. (try experimenting with it a little) I think Paul simply needs to modify the d/l file slightly to remedy the problem.

xbi0s, GhettoAccord,

As of now, the gauges are illuminated by the stock lighting. As Paul describes it, it is not very bright. Once he gets around to putting his designs into his Aerodeck, he will post pics. We might just have to make a How-To for installation of UV lighting. :D

I modified the F/T gauges to their proper size. I can't get in touch with Paul so he can upload them right now so I am hosting them on my page.

Here are the gauges:

'89AccordLX(Rus)'s site (http://www.geocities.com/russianflyer2002/Gauges/)

I have not tested the fit but the size of these is set to be the same as the tach size (3.44 Inches).

I found out with the lighting that if you take out the 2 lights on the top and replace the lights with those led light blots(perfect fit and also has resistor in line) the glow like a indiglo and you don't even need back lighting.Best $13 mod ever

Do you have photoshop or something with rulers and guides in it?

Measure the stock guage diameter and then make a new 8.5" x 11" document

at 300 DPI

drag the gauge image(s) in as new layer(s).

make 2 guides in PS and space them out so that the distance between them is the same as the stock gauge size.

Then resize the image, holding the shift key and dragging a corner of the layer of the guages so that the diameter of the stock gauges is the same distance between the two guide lines you made.

Just make sure you print at 300 DPI. and that the output is 100%

If done right your gauges will fit.

BTW if you want to adjust the brightness of your gauge just use the dimmer switch, I really think that gradient you made ruins the clean look of the gauge, but please post pics, since I could be wrong.

Make a slice/cut in the guage, or make the holes a little larger.

Damn, id love to redo my gauges like that but im 100% certain they wont fit my speedo :(

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee306/LoDMiseryland/my%20car/gaugecluster.jpg
Thats where my speedo goes and 220 sits, and ive yet to see another accord that has a 220 on the speedo, (in nz) they all go up to 180. (not a statement of fact, just what ive personally seen)

(please ignore the ricey nfsu2 graphics on my tacho)

Protip: do this at a half tank of gas, seems the gauge dosent auto correct itself after being maladjusted as i found out by running outta gas on the motorway, while allegedly having a quarter tank of gas left :(

A18A
12-25-2007, 03:10 PM
that would be cause your cars NZ new, imported ones go up to 180k and nz new ones go up to 220k, thats so backwards lol. anyways there is a 220k speedo
