Troubles with the car

Here's the problem: When I turn the key to the second position the PGM-FI light doesn't come on nor does the fuel pump. Another thing is that the driver side headlight is out can these two be related. I've tried another ecu so that can't be it. So what do you guys think a bad ground maybe.

I also agree, but did you check any fuses? Like fuse #1 and fuse #10 under the dash. Just thought I'd mention those too. Don't think the light is related.

Have already replaced the main relay. and still nothing.

I've checked the fuses. I'm looking at the shop manual and when it says " Check for open circuit in yellow wire between No. 2 fuse and the combination meter." What is the combination meter? is it a multimeter. And how would you check this.

yeah its a multimeter, youre just checking continuity. It could also be an ignition switch.

combination meter is the instrument(dash) panel i beleive...

checked the ignition switch and it wasn't it

if all the fuses are ok...(dash and under hood)...you'll need a multi-meter or LED test light to check for voltage at main relay and ignition switch

I checked the ignition switch with continuity like the shop manual describes.

I haven't tried voltage readings just continuity readings. What should the voltage reading be?

You should have 12v DC to ground, or whatever your battery voltage is. Since the switch checks out as far continuity goes I went out to mine and checked a few things. Easiest way to check for voltage is pull fuse #1 under the dash out (15 A) and with key in pos. II(on). with one probe of the meter on ground and the other probe on the upper contact where the fuse plugs in, the meter(on volts dc range) should have 12v. Same with fuse #10 when in position III(start), except lower contact. If you try check power at fuse #10, make sure it's in neutral!
If you have voltage at those two fuses, and since you appear to have factory service manual, there's a harness test on pages 12-63 and 12-64, that Pete mentioned for the main relay, that should help you check the wiring.
