As the title says I'm searching motor mount options for my 1989 LXi 5 speed coupe. OEM stuff is all NLA and I can't find anything but shitty aftermarket Westar, DEA, Anchor etc stuff. Has no one made anything better or found the OEM manufacturer selling them as their branded name? Really don't want poly either.

Bump. Has no one run in to this problem?

Just run the junky ones or make your own with windshield adhesive.

Do what? No. The whole point of my post was to see if there was a quality option available. Not using some windshield crap to engineer a POS motor mount. I guess my only option is the aftermarket crap if that's what people are actually doing.

Did you even search or are you such an expert already that no one needs to answer your questions?

Short answer: if you don't like what you can buy, make your own. That's how it works when you own a 3g. If you lack the skills to produce something of quality, then rant at yourself.

Of course I searched hence making the post. I'm not gonna make a mount out of windshield shit. I simply wanted to know if there was a quality option out there. My 89 prelude has a plethora of options. It appears it isn't that way with accords.

I don't see how you could have seriously searched and not found anything. How about this: 1988 HONDA ACCORD 2.0L L4 Motor Mount | RockAuto (http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/honda,1988,accord,2.0l+l4,1166914,engine,motor+mou nt,5552)

Are you kidding? Did you even read the post? I know you can buy all that shit at Rockauto. I'm well aware of all my DEA, Anchor, etc options. I specifically said that I was aware of those but did not want them because it's cheap Chinese junk. I was inquiring about oem options or if someone had made some on their own that's better than oem and sells it similar to the prelude community.

Well, my goodness, I never realized quality was such an issue with regard to motor mounts. But, hey, what do I know? I have to admit I've never had any mounts replaced.

Any aftermarket motor mount is generally inferior to an oem one. The rubber molds are not as strong, they don't absorb as much vibration and are overall of bad quality. The mounts are difficult enough to get to on these cars I'd rather replace it with something of quality if I can. There's a reason those rock auto ones cost $15 and an oem one is in the $80+ range.

Why don't you want poly mounts?

It's a street car. Don't want all that engine vibration in the cabin. Plus poly drys and cracks and rots out faster than rubber.

I can't see your thumbnail for some reason. I don't even know where to get poly for these cars.

Oddball adapters.com you can buy the front and rear motor mount plates to hold a polyurethane GM transmission mount

Or you could pour your own poly mounts, in the hardness and the color you want, using the link I so kindly posted for you.

:stick:

I found it searching for "make your own motor mount using windshield adhesive."

:uh:

Funny how that works, huh?

ENGINE MOUNT for 1989 Honda ACCORD COUPE (http://www.hondapartscheap.com/auto-parts/1989/honda/accord-coupe/lxi-trim/5-speed-manual-engine/body-air-conditioning-cat/engine-mount-scat)

Looks like most of the OEM stuff isn't made anymore. SoL..
Try going to a dealership and see what they can do, bring lube.

no one has made aftermarket mounts from any of the major companies. We have a member that sales brackets and all you have to do is buy the polyurethane bushing. I had stock mounts handle 164whp when I had my coupe. just buy stock mounts if you are not willing to mod anything.

I want stock mounts. I already said I want stock mounts like 3 times and do not want to make my own mounts. I know I can pour crap in to a bracket and make my own. I don't want that. I wanted OE or quality aftermarket motor mounts I can just buy. Anything that isn't that I do not care about. It seems that does not exist.

Dr_Snooz

They don't exist. You'll have to go without mounts altogether and walk everywhere because every other option is simply unthinkable, I guess.

I would walk before I pour a bunch of windshield glue in a mount and strap that to my engine yes
