i was reading up on swaping motors and well, it seems u peeps know ur sh*t. i was hoping u guys could help me out w/a prob of mine. here's my problem. i have a '88 accord dx. i am pretty sure my motor is blown(because of experience) and am debating over repairing or swaping motor. i am leaning over to swaping because of more power but u know what that means... more money. if i do swap motor, it will most likely be a b18a that i may get from my friends' 2nd gen integra. i know that i will need to purchase a motor mount kit, axles and shift rod from Placeracing inc. i hear a 4th gen civic trans work w/the motor, but i might be able to get an integra tranny. will that fit with the swap? my other friend said something about the wiring not being compatible or something. what needs to be done on my dx beast, electrical-wise? what else is needed for the swap to work? i am new at this and would appreciate any help. thanks Jason

you would need the wireing harness

you will have to convert to EFI first, than you can swap any B series motor.

for the efi all u need is the Efi gas tank, efi fuel pump and the fuel feedline ur stock carb feed line becomes the return line.

Since ur gonna be swapping the motor out thats all u need.

Oh yeah, u dont need the emission box either :D

what about wiring the injectors, and some other sensors.
i would have to rip half a car apart to get to it.

The B18 can be run on a carb with an aftermarket manifold...

I have a 87 hatch with Efi- What would i hafta do for the wireing??? I want to drop in a B18c1 94 + Gsr or a Type R moter!! I heard that the wiring is the pain because going from obd 0 to obd 1 or 2!!!

You will have to get Place Racing's harness plus a pig tale adaptor harness to convert from OBD0 (pre OBD) to OBD1 or 2 depending on the generation motor you get.

you can have placeracing make a obd1 harness for you. thats what i did. then on the b18a all you have to do is change the dist and injectors, cause the 18a has white old style plugs, obd1 has grey plugs. any b18b, or newer style b16 will have this stuff. i did the swap on my dx and just inserted the fi pump in my tank, no need to change the tank.

hey civtek, is b18a swap worth the time, money and effort? so far i am very interested in following in ur footsteps, if u dont mind. but how much did it all come out to? how many hours? my 88 dx is out of commission for now but it would be sweet to drop motor instead of repairing what ever's broken. i just love the sound of a ls/vtec that could hold v8's. wishful thinking, i know. but that's all i have going for me

Do know that engine swap is not easy and requires lot of time and lot of money unless u get a B20A. The other B series swapable motors need to be purchased and they cost around 1300 if i am not mistaken. then the mounts then the connectrors to adapt to your stock car. and then convering ur car to efi specs if ur a carb dude. it aint a two day job, but maybe easier if ur good in mechanical stuff.

i was really happy with the results, the car had alot more power, i could smoke 2nd gear. the kit cost me a total of 1750, +600 for motor/trans, then about 200 more for comp, fuel pump, line, etc. the car was off the road for a good month cause the clutch blew and i pulled the motor, it wasnt planned.
