Transmission options???

I'm hoping to be coming into some money here soon, and one of the first things I want to do is do a transmission swap from auto to manual. I really like how my mom's 96 'teg feels...just really smooth and whatnot. Is it possible to put a 94-2k tranny in an 89 accord?? I realize it may not be easy, but I'd really like it!! Please let me know any info you guys got. Much appreciated!!:)

I don't think that's possible...what you should do w/ the money is give it to me Matt :) You know you want to...then we can finish out my car since yours just isn't worth it lol j/k :D

Well, I have yet to actually HAVE the money, so it's gonna be a little while. And I'm not sure how much I'd budget for it...probably no more than $700 w/a lot of elbow grease.

i think you will be happy with any 5speed. take that money and buy a teg tranny and accord tranny, build a hybrid out of the two, and then install phantom grip LSD, then you will be all set! :P

Yeah, boba, that's what alex said, too. But he said keep the 5th gear from the accord tranny, and put gears 1-4 into the accord tranny housing.
What's Phantom Grip LSD???
And does anyone have an idea of the cost of doing the above work? Thanks

anyway i got a 5speed from an accord for $75 from a junkyard.. just look around and u should be able to find the 2 transmissions for under 400, and i think the phantom grip is like 325... but prepare to do a lot of the work yourself, otherwise costs will skyrocket of course

a rebuild with phantom grip and the interga final drive and 1-4 gears with the accord 5th. i charger $1100. parts aint cheap.JIC you were wondering if anybody actually built them.

That's some spendy shiat, Mike. I don't have that much money, and if I did, I don't think I'd put it into my car!! lol Thanks for the help, though. I think I'm gonna stick with boba's recommendations. Now all I need is some money...:)
