Alright fellas,

So here is the deal. I'm new here and seeking technical HELP! I roll an 87 Accord. DX Hatchback (Don't laugh, it's a GREAT car)

First off, I have a low RPM buck. I'm at school right now and haven't had the time to check plugs wires, etc...

High RPM and idling are fine, however when I short shit into LOW RPMs in 3rd 4rd, even 2nd she shutters, sputters and kicks. That's the symptoms; I need the thought of the 3Geez Gods!

Also, my blinker just went on the frits! It works fine, but it goes SO SO fast, and my other blinker blinks normal! What's the deal there?

Thanks fellas!

Bob

well the blinker problem it might be one of your blinker lights are out thats what happed with my mom and dads cars. one of the blinker bulbs might be out. and "short shit" are you trying to say Short shift?

u mean fast shift to higher gears on low rpm?? Dude, u cant do that. also if ur on high rpm and shift to low, lets say ur doing 50 on 5th and shove it to 2nd, of course ur can is gonna bogg and sputter. You sure u know how to drive a manual? Just making sure.

i think hes talking about shifting from 2nd to 3rd at like 15mph...

you get the rpms down to like 1600... and the car bogs down.. and thatas normal..

quick shifting == shifting sooner than normal

Try hecking your timing it may be too far advanced.

Turn signal is either bulb or relay.

i dont know who the dude on my avatar is, it seemed cool and i put it up there :D .

as far as quick shifting goes, Our car makes the max power at 5500 rpm and why on earth would u wanna quick shift esp when u dont have a racing engine and higher tranny ratio? To me it just makes no sense!!!! Unless its for 'being cool' then umm sureee

Alright I think I came across wrong.

Yea, I do know how to shift. And by short shift I mean the start of a new gear is at 2000 - 3000 RPM. I guess it's more of a normal shift.

2 - 3 Thousand is where she bucks. On slow acceleration. It's getting worse. I'm checkin plugs and wires tomarrow.

Any other thoughts on the buck now that I've hopesully explained myself?

Cheers,

Bob

Check the timing it shounds like that is the problem espically when excelerating slow at low rpms.

if its timing go ask a parts dealer if you can barrow there timing gun it hooks up to the batery and you use it on your belt its pretty nifty !

minbe does the same buck thing but only when under 20mph or so in second gear. and it also idles a little jumpy like 650 to 750. someone told me the idle thing could be the timing

Just as a side note, a 96 Accord 4 Door EX with Exhaust, Intake, lowered, and rims is SLOWER then my car! Yea, it was a great kill. Lined up with my buddy, took him off the line and won by a car length! Couldn't believe it!

But seriously,

Thanks you SO SO much. All of these things are a sure check. The timing belt clutch and water pump were JUST change say 10,000 Miles ago. I doubt it's that. I will check however.

As far as the fuel filters, where are they located? Wasn't aware that these was more then one. Doesn't hurt to check them.

The blinker, yea well I feel foolish. For some reason 3 lights went in about a week, so I replaced them and she's working great again.

Cheers,

Bob

P.S. My ride JUST rolled 125,000 and I've has it since 97,000. Would you suggest a tune up? What is the maintenance around 125,000 that should be done? I've replaced air filter twice, oil on a reg. basis, clutch, timing belt, and water pump as well as new front and rear brakes.

Cap rotor plugs wires O2 sensor and clean the carb out with carb cleaner spray ans a small brush.

i have a 94 accord lx coupe. granted it has a jdm h22a1, i doubt any carb. 3 gee could kill it unless it was a seriously built motor. but we won't get into that.

one fuel filter is about 6 - 8 inches from where the fuel line enters the carb. and the other is in this little metal surround behing the rear driverside suspension somewhere. these are some seriously easy filters to replace compared with my 94 where it is in the engine bay where you can't get it from above or underneathe.

I'm having a hard tiem believing that if a person with a 5g accord with those mods would get beat by you. I've gone against 4g's and been wasted rather bad. I have a feeling that guy doens't know how to shift or was just too tired to race ya. butt...that's for the "racing" section. As for your bogging yah check those things and keep your rmps around 2.5/3. It performs best around there with normal driving.

I had a similar problem, turned out a plug wasnt sparking enough, so it was running on 3 cylinders. Well...that and another plug was crossthreaded, so all four fired, but two only half-fired.

Thanks fellas, I'm going to check the fuel filters tomarrow. I hope thats what it is! I have to find them though.

As far as the 96 Accord kill, this is the complete and honest truth. He's rollin an automatic, but still Shouldn't they be faster?

You guys are awsome! I l love this BBS.

Cheers,

Bob

P.S. When I get to the filters how will I know what to look for? Are they see through? How can I check them?
