WHat is the best thing to use for a ground wire? i heard of using speaker wire but it has two wires together like a postive and negative, would i only need the negative side? or what??

no speaker wire is either gold plated or is a better guage of copper wire like 6 guage instead of 18 guage. basicly the lower the # the more power the cable can handle.

i use a 2 guage copper wire from the battery to the head as my ground wire.

so is it just one wire or is it the kind that has two wires together??

it's a single wire...

i saw some thing in a magazine itwas import tuner or something like that where they put high performance ground wires on the car, it was only 4 or 5 wires but they showed a dyno and it upped hp by about 3 to 4 across the whole rev range, has anyoneelse heard of these?

what was the hp of the car before they added the ground wire? If it was souped up already then 3 or 4 hp wouldn't make much of a difference.

Find some oxygen free copper wire. Oxygen free copper is some of the best conductive wire you can get (or afford).

yeah i just fiinished reading Turbo performance magazine.
they were talking about this hyper ground system.
they dyno the 2002 suzuki with 116hp and it gained 2.1HP.
it may be small gain but it is a gain.

I made a cusome seyt out of 4 braided strands of thick monster wire I will take some pics and post it soon they work well.

ok when u make a ground wire out of speaker wire, do you use the negative or the positive side???

and what are some of the main parts i could ground,

thanx!

Either side should work because both of the wires should be basically the same. No difference between positive and negative.

just buy the single wire... 8 - 2 guage or whatever.
2 guage is about the size of your tumb.

You have the main ground wire that comes off the battery.
- This is the wire all others will eventually use, so this should be a heavier guage then the rest of the ground wires.

You have the ground wire to the thermostat housing
You have the ground wire to the Valve cover.

what about a ground wire to the accel coil, or soemthing?

hmm well upgrade both wires... hehe it's not really ground... you'll have to dig into the distributor and make new wire connectors.

well i mean just one running from the frame of the car to the crome container, just to ground it. would that work or am i thinking about it wrong?

I added an extra from the throttle body to the fire wall.

i guess the more grounds you have the better becasue it gives it more paths to go.

You're going to f**k something up. Stop thinking Better ground = HP.
You're going overboard.
You can use better wires to replace the ones already connected... don't run extra wires that follow seperate paths... especially when it comes to the ignition coil.

what 1988starter said was ok since it's not directly connected to anything electrical... he's just adding more paths.

i know, i didnt run any to any elcetrical things, i replaced the one on teh valve cover, i added another near the thermostat and i added one for the intake manifold.

the car runs great, i think it atcually smoothed out my idle. it idles right at 1 rpm :D

:lol 1 rpm... you mean 1K rpm

Just a side note my sisters 86 lude came with one on the valve cover and one on the throttle body
