i have a 89 lx-i and when i am sitting at a stop light with the car in drive and the brake on the whole car starts shaking really bad. plus when i am driving and right before the car shifts into 4th it kinda shakes also. i was wondering if anybody knew why and how i could fix this? i was thinking about turning up my idle to about 1000 rpms. you see usually it wants to drop below 1000 rpms when all this happens. if anybody knows why let me know. thanx.

Sounds like engine mounts. There have been posts on this in the past. Search for "vibrating" or "engine mounts." I had one engine mount replaced and that helped, but my mechanic thinks the fluid-filled front mount is the problem. Haven't had it replaced, because the vibration isn't that bad and I got used to it.

Yeah I have the same problem at stop lights with the car vibrating, I just got used to it.

It also depends on what rpms the car is at when its warm and in drive at the stoplight. It should be at 750-850 rpms, if its lower that can cause it to be worse.

i would try messin with the idle screw on the TB if that doesnt work id try making sure the EACV and Fast Idle valves were good.
