It broke after 31 years of repeatedly opening and closing.... The hinge near the front broke off.

After researching into flea bay and other sources, I know this is a high failure item. I decided to fix it myself. Luckily it didn't break at the pivot joint.

I drilled holes so I could use wire to reattach/reinforce the broken parts, then JB weld to the rescue. After putting everything back together, it works perfectly fine.

When is someone around here going to belly up and start 3D printing some of this stuff?

I went to a local UPS\mail store and the guy demonstrated to me 3D printing. He said people come to him for making car parts that is no longer available.

Everything I'm reading says that 3D printing is a revolution as important as the most amazing inventions in history. Equivalent to the printing press, the cotton gin, the desktop PC. It's going to completely change the way the world works. I think about all the corporations dead set on producing stuff we don't want, like ugly boring cars, then forcing us to buy them anyway by restricting the supply of spare parts. Enter the 3D printer... These lazy, sloppy corporations are already dead, but still walking around thinking they own the world. I can't wait to see them fall.
