Picked up this hatch a few weeks back for a really good deal that I just couldn't pass up. Needed a daily that gets better gas mileage than my gas hog Jeep and I just can't stay away from classics. This is now the newest vehicle I own... haha. So, it runs pretty well and drives straight but has a few issues which I hope to fix up over the next few months. Firstly, it has very poor/inconsistent idle and does not do well at ~1/4 throttle or below. The car has 197k miles and I do not know the maintenance history so I will be going through the ignition system, vacuum lines, and rebuild the carburetor when I get the time. I'm hoping the Chilton's manual I ordered has good instructions for the rebuild but if it doesn't, where could I find them? I do have experience with '60s era carbs but I know these are quite different.

The other major issue I have is some body damage. The passenger side fender/headlight area was hit pretty bad and needs replaced. The front and rear bumpers need replaced as well because they are pretty badly smashed but they're less of a concern for me. I was able to temporarily rig up my headlight so I don't get ticketed for it so do I have time to work on it. I will be attaching pictures of the car and my other daily (77 Cherokee) which hauled the car back two hours away.

If anybody knows of parts in/around Indiana please get in touch with me!

Welcome! Interesting to see another 83 hatch in the midwest! I'm in Illinois and mine is an auto with 135k miles. Weber carb on it, was on the car when I bought it. Good luck restoring yours. Try thisoldhonda.com for parts. It is hard to find used parts for our cars here in the midwest as the cars themselves are extinct either due to rust or the lack of enthur
