hello 3geez crew,

first a little about my new ride, if you care to listen. i just bought an 89 coupe with 166000km. i wiped out my beloved VW GTi on black ice , so had to head out car shopping. this accord was the cleanest car out of the 20+ i looked at. Low km's, fresh paint, good interior.
Overall, i'm pleased with this car. good mileage, good power, excelent refinement in a nice looking body.
my biggest complaint is the awful steering...what the hell were they thinking?
in its present state, this car is less than engaging to drive, and when i tell people that i drive an accord i often get things like
"so does my mom", but i'm not going to get discouraged. i see great potential in this car.
i plan to design this car to be something like a factory performance model. subtle is going to be the key.
anyways....sorry about all that

i want a leather steering wheel. does anyone know which models of hondas have a wheel compatible with mine? any input would be greatly appreciated.

ok some advice for you. Keep the car you'll love it. These cars have so much potential it's not even funny. They just about make every mod for our cars, just not a large selection. You just have to search. Haha, ya sure moms drive Accords, but everybody does, they are nice cars man. About the steering wheel, you don't need to switch it. Do what I did and buy a leather steering wheel wrap. I have one for my TL too. I love it, it gives it a nice thick grip and its better for driving. You can get those online or at autopart store usually! Good luck!

Hey Mike, could you post a pic of your steering wheel cover? I hate those, I think they look gay as hell; at least the ones that I've seen. I'mk not saying that yous look gay Mike, because I haven't seen it, but most of the cars that I've seen with steering wheel cover look pretty gay to my taste.

I have a problem with my steering wheel. It's fading out on top and I hate that. I want a momo steering wheel or something like that. I really don't care about the Cruise control or the radio controler on the steering wheel. I don't use them any ways :D

ShawnS, what kind of coupe you have? LX, LXi or SEi?? any pics?

Could always change the wheel for a Grant GT wheel, I have some pics that I picked up from whenever I get home.

my car is an EX-i. i assume this is the canadian version of an LX-i?
i'll post some pics soon.
i used to have a grant wheel in my VW; its smaller diameter blocked the guages, but it was a pleasure to use.
i'll just take some measurements of my wheel and head out to the junkyard.

I like the one on the honda better. It looks nice, way better than the ones I see on the street. They get them at autozone or Pepboys and they look bulky as hell :D but that one looks nice Mike.

I noticed that the one on the TL is a little bit loose on the buttom. Cool job man.

PS. how much did you pay for them and where???

Hey Coroncho the one in the accord is just more worn so it looks tighter. The one on the TL is just new so hasnt been broken in yet. I got them from a local speed shop for $30 a piece and installed them myself. Takes over an hour to do them they are a pain!

ya I keep my interiors flawless in both cars 89accordboi!

Mike, you ever thought of swaping a 5 speed on the accord? it would look tight as hell man + a short shifter and a performance clutch stage II.................. tight! :D

since i lowered mine on sprints, got the front strut tower bar from DC, and got wider tires, my car handles awesome right now. It'll only improve with the Koni adjustables i plan to get and the rear strut bar from justin. Those are def. things to think about if you don't like the steering man.
