yeah, i am getting a system for air ride, and this guy was telling me you can use your air conditioner as your compressor. So i was wondering what the psi rating or whatever it is. If anyone knows. thanx

What kind of compressor do you have? Nippondenso or Keihin?

I have no idea, just the stock air coditioner compressor for the 89 accord dx.

woah woah woah, wait a minute! you said air conditioner in an 89 dx ?!?

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Thought dx's didn't have AC...

BTW, go to www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and select your year/model/etc. and look at the diff. compressors. Keihn compressors are MUCH larger than their better counterpart, NipponDenso.

Um, you can go to the junkyard, install it, and put the switch in the blank. Many people do this. My friend Keith has an 86 DX with AC.

I'd think that the compressor would overheat pretty easily since the air wouldn't be able to cool is as well as the R-12 that usually runs through it.

Yeah, you were able to get A/C in a DX, but it was an added option. Apparently CC was also an available option. My 89 DX hatch has factory A/C.

yeah my dx has air conitioning and cruise control. I didnt know that some didnt come with it. But it wouldnt always be running, it would only have to be running for about a couple minutes here and there to fill the tank when it gets empty. I was just wondering if it is a pretty big compressor and if it would be able to put out about 150 psi.

i think it can be done with some fabrication and what not, but the big thing is keeping the compressor oiled. Dont forget that they were designed to have oil in the refrigerant
