Hello I have an 86 Accord Lxi hatch.
I'm curious to know why my vin is titling me as a BA7?
CA1-CA6 was accords 86-89.
My VIN says JHMBA7....
The BA3-BA7 was the 3rd gen prelude starting in year 1987...
What does this mean?
Do I have an Lxi with prelude engine trans?
I know i have the A20a3 being fuel injected.
Someone please explain. Thanks

Hm, maybe. Or the car mightve been stolen and the swapped the VINs with another prelude that got wrecked or something.

Do some research on what markings or stamps were on the a20’s

They just used different codes for '84-'86. You have a Accord with auto trans.

I have a 86LXi 4 door auto and my VIN number also starts with JHMBA7. I went to the VIN reference and thought it would tell the engine type but it doesn't. However, the number in grade does says 4 refer to LXi so I think this distinguish the FI engine from the carb, right ?

Yes this car is clean title, history showed not being stolen or wrecked. That's what I thought before I looked it up.

Yes auto transmission. It's leaking right now, think the torque converter . I want to swap it but then I don't. A20 not fast but strong and reliable. Auto trans I don't like I want to swap with 5 speed for sure

Interesting! Yah I guess if your fuel injected...but I know that north America versions of our cars are labeled as CA1-CA6. Do i call mine a BA7 because it will be mistaken for a prelude.
