I havent gotten my car up and running yet, but how would the car react if the fast idle valve were removed and blocked off from the engine? Is this the only valve responsible for for idling the engine higher when the car is started to heat it up or would the IACV do the job perfectly with the FITV gone? would it idle poorly on a cold start up? i take it the valve is open until hot coolant flows through it, then it closes which normalizes the idle.

It operates the way you describe. I'm not sure that anyone has tried removing one to see what would happen. Worst case, I suspect you'd have to nurse it along for a few minutes with your foot on cold mornings. Let us know what happens if you do it.
