View Full Version : Water Pump Bolt Sizes?

Gonna do a water pump job soon. Just wanna have all the parts on the bench to make it a quick job.

I figure that at this moment in time it would best serve me to replace those old 33 year old bolts. Without tearing everything down (yet), does anybody know off the top of your head what the bolt sizes are?

Thanks,
Trent

10mm and 12mm I'm pretty sure.
Pretty much everything is 10, 12, 14, 17, 19 and the rare 8mm

The manual shows 6x1.0mm. I think there are a couple different sizes of bolts holding it on though.

the manual always confused me with that crap.

I think they were all 10mm bolts. Everything under the hood is mostly 10 or 12mm

The socket size is 10 mm but but the thread size is most likely M6 x 1

Thanks guys..... M6 x 1 is the correct size for 3 of them, but there is an oddball in the mix that is longer (I think.) As soon as I do the job I'll update this thread

M6 is the diameter of the bolt itself (the threaded part, not the head)
1.0 is the thread pitch. 1 thread per MM.
If there is a third dimension listed, that is usually the bolt length (for example M6x1.0x25). Sometimes the books or the parts sites will have the length listed, sometimes not.
