what have people got for max speed?

I think my car is messed up some how, its a 1989 lxi and i can only get 95 mph out of it, i havent tried to tweak it at all, i need to replace the injectors (they are leaking) but other than that I WONDER WHATS WRONG :( what have other people gotten? any ideas for mine?

the highest i have gone is only 95 ish, but i had a lot more room. other lx-i's can usually hit 120-125 without a problem. i am confident i could hit 120 for SURE... i still had a lot of spped left to go at 95 lol..

i got a DX automatic with 91,000 miles and got 115 with more to go but i had cars everywhere in front of me and couldnt get over or nothin. i went 110 before and past a semi on teh emergency lane of a 55 mph curve on the freeway. but when you cars lowered 3 inches you can do them things :)

I few weeks back i let my dad drive the car, and see how fast it would go. At his work they have one of those GPS things that tells the speed(and your position:lol) . So we got that all set and went down to south(er) Georgia. He could only get it to 115, and it was pretty flat, maybe with a slight downhill.

Anyway that was 115 on the GPS, on the speedo is said 120(or around that mark). I am guessing, they vary around 5MPH?

With some good hp and pushing the engine past 6,200 rpm, with the gear ratio's in the 5 spd you can get +160mph. 92mph is the redline speed for 3rd gear. If you can push 5 gear above redline you will need I spedo that does much faster the 130mph.:D

88 LX-i, bone stock, exhaust leak, big dents on the 1/4's, slipping clutch: 115 MPH in 5th gear. That's it. Well, it may have gone faster, but at 115 MPH, that was fine for me. Heck, I was glad it could do 100. I think that the dents are holding it back a lot though, as the car was rigth at 5000 RPM and I know it can pull to 6000 RPM easily in all the other gears.

i was using my sisters car to go to the shore in new jersey so i was coming back up on the parkway, her car is stock and it has 240,000 its mad light and the double wishbone is awesome squirely for the turns but what rocks about this car is the crazy torque ( force with purpose(direction)) i hit 110 in no time but this is jersey so i was allready nuts, that thing pulled like my friends 68 cougar just kept asking for more. all you have to do with these cars is stretch the gears out good and you have your self well earned honda triple digits :>

Well by car will pull good until I shift into 4th around 90mph. Only if I had a turbo, just imagine 160mph in a 3g. :D

Uh, I managed to push my Automatic to 112 mph by reving and manually shifting the gears from low-2 on up on hw14... but there it kind of sputered(2 shot injectors and hole in an exhaust Flex Pipe) with 193K miles... My buddy josh was there too in his 3rd gen, but he got it closer to ~125 mph. His is manual with only 160K miles and a Pacesetter exhaust system.

Highest I have ever gone is a cool 100MPH. The speed limit on the road was only 45 so I was afraid to hit even 100 let alone anymore. It was running really smooth at 100 so I am sure I could have gone faster. Yet again, I only have 152,000 on my 3g so its not as bad as those guys with 230,000+ :D

Well I'm not to sure on the redline shift point stock is for 4th and 5th. 1st=35mph, 2nd=60mph, 3rd=92mph. The Lx-i tranny is a little less then the DX and LX. Going my the ratio each gear goes up I would say that 4th=126mph and 5th=160mph redlining. I have hit 130mph at 5800rpm riding on 17" rims. :)

ive gone about 100 in the 87 lx auto... I've never pushed it all the way tho... i was at 80 on the highway today in about 30 seconds, and when i eased off of the accelerator, i had a whole nother gear and the overdrive. The only problem was that i ran out of space...I HATE TRAFFIC :mad:

That is where the most Honda's love to cruise, around 80mph. Cruising at 80 in 5th you have more power than cruising in 5th at 55. I do not consider that a problem, it is how the car is designed.

When I'm crussing up to 15mph over the speed limit it works fine, anything above that I can't slow down fast enough. Most of the cops here like to hid around corners where by the time the radar/laser hits you it is too late so I still have to be carefull. :)

fastest ive gone is 110. Steady. I didnt want to go any faster cause my axle needs replaced, and my tires are econo, and would probly Shread apart from anything faster.

Yea that is one thing I don't like is the brakes, but I still manage to push it +100mph
