Hey guys,
So far I have been using this forum to read about some troubles i have on my 1989 DX Accord CA5, so I guess it's time to introduce myself
Here is my car: 1989 Honda Accord CA5, KA-Model, blue outside blue inside. 120600 miles on the clock. I live in Germany near Frankfurt.

Right now I am trying to prepare the car for a long drive next summer so i actually have some questions already. For example - what Roof rack would You guys recommend? The 3rd gen is not really the best example of a car which I could totally see with a roof rack, but I've seen some on the internet having one, I just have no idea how this thing is held

Hello and welcome! That is a beautiful car! I had a roof rack on my coupe for a little while- and I suggest you dont use the one I had! It had metal brackets that would reach through the weather seals and grab inside the doors, and scratched much of the paint. They also didn't have much grip, so they weren't very functional. I would suggest getting the kind that run straps across the headliner, they run through the weather seals and then clip to itself so its very firm- I would look for one of those it's much less harder on the car (and yours is so nice!) and works better. The straps can be a little annoying, but I find that it works very well. I hope other people chime in too!!

wow cool rims!!! but what brand of the roof rack was yours? I don't think i totally understand You what You mean with "the straps across the headliner". So far I found only one Model which kind of "grabs" the roof (between the roof corner and the weather seals), but the contact surface is just on the corners appears to be SO small! https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAyNFg3Njg=/z/cAwAAOSw43JbzEfz/$_57.JPG - and it has no contact with the actual roof surface like Yours.

But i see some of the Accords having those ones, which "stand" on the roof and are fixed between the roof and weather seal stripe.

Thanks! The first one that I bought was this one, mainly since it was cheap; https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Top-Roof-Rack-Cross-Bars-Crossbars-Luggage-Cargo-Carrier-Window-ADJUSTABALE-/283236716056?hash=item41f2394e18

And the one that I failed to describe is this one, I bought it to replace this one ^; https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Apex-RCB-3745-U-Universal-Strap-Attached-Roof-Crossbars-FREE-SHIPPING/401110652145?hash=item5d640ed4f1:g:kG4AAOSwrhBZAzJ 6 which was put to actual use- I had a roof basket with a spare tire in it, a lightbar on it, and never felt any problems from the straps! And also, no paint chips! Hope it helps!

Nice car. Never seen one like that

Pop-up lights, with face lift bumpers, facelift tail lights but wide place opening on the trunk in Europe.
