Well today I went to the ImportXpression at Limerock Park in Lakeville, CT. Today was the import show and monday is the race, but all the race cars were on display and in the pits and such. Well as we were leaving I decided to stroll through the second pit area. As I am walking my friend sees a yellow Accord. I look at it and recognize that it is the SAME one from www.opmmotorsports.com. I could not believe it!! This car....

I got a picture of it that I will post when I get the film developed.

Anyway, the owner and driver of the car is Peter Keane and he is a really cool guy. Turns out that the class that he was in before he dominated it. So the SCCA put him in ITA and the car is struggling somewhat. Jim if you read this you would be probably interested in knowing that Peter is running the Carrera struts and truechoice springs at around 800lb front and 900lb rear spring rates (i cant remember the EXACT #s). He has a cold air intake, dc header, and exhaust. One real interesting tip he gave me was that the 1st gen Integra brakes and 1st gen Integra transmission can be used on the Accord (brakes only for 88-89 FI). For the tranny you need to change the bell housing and then it works perfect with nice short gears! I told Peter about the board, hopefully he gets a chance to check it out and give a little more explaination about his car.

hell yeah, that would be cool to have him on our board to help us with some tips.. Did you happen to ask why he chose a 3rd gen accord to race?

he used to race VWs but changed to the Accord because he got it for cheap and wanted something different. When he was beating up on the competion in ITB people were actaully making 3rd gens to run in that class, but then SCCA made him move to ITA and he is now trying to get back in ITB.

That's sweet! That would be really cool to have that dude on here.

For the Integra parts, did he say any of the brake parts would work? Like brake hoses? I want to get some SS brake lines, but can't find them for the 3g. They do have them for the 86-89 Integra though! ;)

Well welll well, he's running his springs stiffer in the rear, gee wonder why? Perhaps he knows something about tuning a FWD car to reduce understeer. And I don't think the man does drifting. My god 800lbs springs whewwwww whooooo, dang that's stiff!!! Did you happen to get a email address off the man, it love to talk to him. I hope he does give us a visit, or better yet become's a member. Pretty neat that you ran into him.

BTW, opm says the carrera struts have been discontinued.
But they still do offer the custom koni's with shortened front units.
They offer them single or double adjustable and they valve them based on your spring rates, wish I had $1040 sitting around.;)

hmmm... maybe i should go with that spring rate....... whooooo!
Ha ha.. i wouldn't go that high. i'll try to start out at around 700 lbs.

Jim, I should be ordering sometime in the next two weeks. tommorrow I have to get a set of brake shoes and new cylinders.

waaah.. i wish i could just use the money for the springs.

heee heeheheheh

I'm interested in the brake conversion myself. Did he mention the front or the rear brakes? Do the first gen Acura Integra's have rear disks? Are the front brakes bigger? Does anyone know this info. This is the first I have ever heard of any swappable brake parts.

Thats really interesting about the transmission. Anyone know the gear rates of a 1st gen integra tranny compared to the 2nd gen prelude tranny. That could be the deciding factor on what tranny I get.

Anyone look at the integra brakes? I would figure that they would have smaller brakes. How would that be an upgrade?

Hmm I hope I didnt misunderstand about the Integra brakes. he said they were a 409 and so were the accord ones. What 409 was I am unsure because I was just so pysched to see this car i kept asking a lot of questions. lol I am looking for Integra tranny #s. Another quick thing I remember is that he said he uses Panther Pads up front.

What kinda trouble are we looking at with replacing the bellhousing on a tranny? I'm swapping mine soon, and would love to give the 'teg one a shot. That coupled with my UR clutch should warm up some tires.
