Well after much thinking and no doing it:lol, I finally imagineered how to create custom clear bumper turn signals for the 86-87 cars. I used rubber washers behind the housing to give it a near flush mount appearance. I did one side to prove my idea's and will try and take pics on the whole process for a how to, when I do the other side.

I had to modify the housing for a flush mount.

I could not find floresent lighting fixture panels that I liked for this, so I pulled some huge clear turn signal assemblies from a 82 or something jeep and cut them up.

I have no idea of when I be able to get the pics developed and put onto photo cd, once I do the other side.

Ok I did the other side and I have film I need to put onto photo cd. I have pics to document the process so anyone can do the same thing if they want. I'll ask mike to host and post the pics.:D
The other side went allot faster since I knew what I was doing. All I've got to do now is get something to help make a water tight seal along with the original seals that I kept in place.

Well I checked out all the places that had sheet floresent lighting plastic. And I even opened several boxed floresent lighting fixtures, hoping to find nice thick plasic to use, no dice. I ended up pulling two clear turn signal assemblies off of a jeep cherokee in the junk yard. They were the perfect size and the plastic was nice and thick, not thin and brittle like at the other stuff I'd found. I used a dremel to grind it to the proper shape.

Yk86's web site does not tell you how to make front 86-87 clear turn signal's. The thread link mention's it, but only tells you how to do the tail lights, which are pretty impressive.

I have never seen a how to for the 86-87 cars as they are of course different than the 88-89 car's, which are pretty darn easy to do. I felt it was time to fill the gap.:D

Well he does mention the turn signals cuz all u have to do is follow the same procedure but u dont have to heat the plexiglass.

Damackz is correct. Very easy to make and probably only costs like $2. Just use the same cut and glue method like the tails.

I found a couple of issue's that had to be resolved that go beyond simply saying it's easy to do. If it was as easy as slapping a piece of clear plastic on I wouldn't bother taking the picture's or offered to write a how to.

I have the photo's on my computer now, but I need to be able to post them to the board to I can write the how to. Their are to many picture's to ask someone to post and host them. Besides I need to be able to write the how to step by step.

Why can't it be as easy to post pics here as it was at AF!!!

I'll host them, not my server, so I don't care how many pics, and I'll just give you the url, all you'd have to do is the [img~] tags when you post them...

Thanks TeKKnoTeKK, I'm sure someone could do better, I wanted someone to do it a long time ago. So I figured it might as well be me.

Looks good Jim. I wasn't saying your how-to was unneccessary because it's easy to make or anything like that if that's what it sounded like. I know writing up how-to's, taking and editting pics for it take alot of time. It was meant to say it's alot easier than the tails because it requires no bending.
