amount of tranny fluid

how much tranny fluid should be in a 89 DX? how many quarts?

manual: 2.4 quarts after drain, 2.5 quarts after overhaul
auto: 3.2 quarts at change, 6.3 quarts after overhaul

whats overhaul? and did u mean 3.3 or 6.3? My tranny is in now its one from the junk yard and it dont seem like it shifts when it should its a automatic. I thought maybe the fluid was to full or not the right fluid or soemthin. its been in for about a montha nd started doin it the last 2 weeks and i thought it might be becuz its cold out to, but it still does it sometimes when its all the way warmed up.

he ment 6.3, the torque convertor (spelling -1) holds alot of fluid that can't be drained without overhauling (taking apart) the tranny, you could just flush and fill the 3.2 quarts normally than do it again a few times, that will help get most of it out.
