I'm not a newbie, but it's been a while since I've posted on here. I just got a 1988 Hatch DX for $60. Yes, $60. Slight wreckage in the drivers side headlight. It has 130,000 miles. The inside is immaculate. Loving the retro Louvers. It doesn't currently run, needs good fuel and a battery. Stay tuned....

Wow, what a steal for $60. Low mileage too.

Welcome back, bro. Where you been?

It's been a while hasn't it. Anyways, I got up in the attic and I found a D/C Sports Strut bar and an arm rest. I installed the arm rest and I'll install the Bar as soon as it's running better. I put a new fuel pump in it, drained the bad gas as much as I could, and put fuel in. It started up and is running like it's missing a cylinder. Probably needs new fuel filters and tune up.

The brass screw on the carb is leaking. Any Recommendations?

Any Recommendations?

I think there are a couple little teeny orings on those brass seats. You won't find them outside of a rebuild kit. Ideally, you would replace them, but when a car's been sitting a long time you might find that the leak has magically stopped the next time you fire it up. :dunno:

Fix the obvious stuff, but mostly the car needs to be driven. There's probably all kinds of rust and varnish all through it. It will work itself out best with patient driving and good fluids and maintenance.

I put a half bottle of Seafoam in the tank and I'll put the other half in when i fill it up with gas. I ordered fuel filters, so that should help alot. I found some new spark plugs up in my attic too. I can't believe I kept as much crap as I did. :)

Score on a hatch with louvres for $60. I’m too new to know who you are but I’m glad you’re back in the 3g game. Do you have any nonethanol gas stations around? Running E0 helped me clean out a carb quite well

Looks 100 times better!

I guess winter tires aren't required in AZ anyway hahaha.

Thanks! I'm working on the Vacuum Delete now.

The fender and headlight fixed up nicely. I remember when I had pretty much the same accident, there was some damage to the structure around the headlight and I couldn't open & close it anymore. Had to stay open from then on.

The headlight still gets stuck trying to go up, but a little nudge and it does. I'll worry about that when I get the Vacuum Delete done.

Congrats on picking up the '88 DX hatch for so little! Low mileage, good interior and otherwise good body besides the fender bender. Congrats on saving it. Keep up the great work!
