so I was standing out front today, staring at the 3g, thinking to myself..."something just doesn't look good about my car". being that this has been a problem to me ever since i got the car....it was really starting to bug me. At first(a few months back) I thought it was the headlights. But then I have seen stock 3g's on this website and out about that i really like. So next... I thought it was the tan color of my car. Again I was wronged when I saw a my color....but somehow it looked better. All of the sudden. BAM it hit me, the two tone car bumpers are killer. I need to take them off. mine are black on tan, bumpers are all black, car is tan.......and I just want it to be tan on tan. my car is an 89 dx, and if there is some way i can go to a junkyard, and tear those uglies off......and put some nice same color bumpers on.....please i beg of you fill me in.....for my own sanity and the sake of my car.......

Coupes are the exception to that rule. You have dx mirrors. Power mirrors are more curved in shape.

are the black bumpers only an 86-87 DX thing?

Black bumpers were on all years on the DX trim. Its easy to find those bumpers at junkyards, any year bolts on.

All 86-89 DX Sedans and DX Hatch's had black bumpers. BUT, ALL coupes, DX or LX-i had painted bumpers.

As for the mirrors, the more square ones are non-power mirrors. Those too are only found on the DX. The LX, LX-i, and SE-i all had power mirrors which are the more curved ones as guaynabo89 said. The biggest difference in those mirrors is the smaller neck or "joint" area where it mounts to the vehicle.

Yeah, if you want the bumpers to be body colored, and yours are in good shape, just get them sprayed and you'll be rollin' pimp style.

This is not true either. I have an 88 DX 4 door, and my bumpers are the same color as my car. even before i painted it

A previous owner had them painted. All dx's except for the coupes had black bumpers.

Very true indeed, The Dx's all have he black bumpers on them unless other wise it's an LX, LX-i, or SE-i all have the matching color of the car and that's it.... and the only other way that someone with a DX have their bumpbers the same color as the car, is if the previous owner had em painted... Does any one know about the Accords in Canada? I have a 1986 LX, and the previous owner had painted the bumpers the same colour as the body. The paint is now chipping off and it appears to be black under the paint. I know that the 4 trim levels available in Canada were the LX, EX, EX-i, and SE-i in 1989. So would that make my LX the equivalent as an American DX?

yeah, your LX would be an american DX.
