SO, I unbolted my timing cover and I still can't seem to get it off. It looks like it was spot welded because there are two beads of what looks like metal between it and the valve cover. Are these beads normal? Or am I going to have to unweld it somehow.....

I think you mean valve cover..the timing belt cover is plastic.

Try knocking it with a rubber hammer or a block of wood and a hammer.

Will do. I know essentially nothing about cars or how to repair them so this is all new :uh:

No problem. its a good first project. The gasket gets stuck to the cover is all. Be patient with it.
