HI,

My name is Bruce Fish.
I have a 1979 Honda Accord Hatchback, which I've owned since 1980.
The car has 145,000 miles, with 45,000 on a new old stock OEM Engine installed 20 years ago by the local Honda Dealership.
As you can all understand, I'm having trouble finding certain parts for the car.
At the moment, I'm in need of four new struts.


According to the Honda Motor Co. parts catalog #HC099955 (August, 1980), the PNs for the strut and shock absorber assemblies for each item are:

Right Front
I would like to find:
Right Front Strut Assembly (complete) – 51601-689-671

But I might be able to get by with:
Right Front Shock Assembly (shock assembly only) – 51605-689-004

Left Front
I would like to find:
Left Front Strut Assembly (complete) – 51602-689-671

But I might be able to get by with:
Left Front Shock Assembly (shock assembly only) – 51606-689-004


Right Rear
I would like to find:
Right Rear Strut Assembly (complete) - 52610-698-004
Possible replacement #:: 52612-689-325

But I might be able to get by with:
Right Rear Shock Assembly (shock assembly only) – 52611-689-004
Possible replacement #: 52610-689-0140


Left Rear
I would like to find:
Left Rear Strut Assembly (complete) – 52620-689-004

But I might be able to get by with:
Left Rear Shock Assembly (shock assembly only) – 52612-689-004


I realize that part numbers often change over time, but these appear to be the original OEM numbers, so that at least gives us somewhere to start..

I thought on the struts you replace the insert in the strut assemble on those cars. it maybe a mod like you cut the top out and replace the insert. I dont have a book anymore you 1 g cars.
