I'm 99% sure I'm putting it back together correctly. Took it off to clean it and somehow can't get the black top part to screw back in. Any tips on this? I will post pics if you need to see

Isn't the black part just the cover, there should be nothing touching it. Pics please.

I have been attempting this for the better part of an hour and I am feeling pretty dumb at this point. I have also taken note that the screws holding the bottom in were already stripped when I took this off...

This is all i can offer, you can see a diagram of the part in the shop manual picture here.

The black top part screws in, i used two large flathead screwdrivers to righty tighty it in there to tighten mine, but i have never taken it completely apart.

Took a long break and came back to it. Although I've seen them taking it apart and cleaned before I do not recommend taking this one apart. Based off of how mine looked it was taken apart before but put back together incorrectly. Next time I'm just dousing with carb cleaner or getting a new one. But at least it solved my problem. It you to take it apart I recommend putting it back on the intake manifold to put it back together, and don't be surprised if the plastic top starts giving away

Well it was going well up until I forgot the hose clamps and leaked coolant everywhere. Don't have time to bleed my system right now and absolutely destroyed the plastic top in the FITV. Going to a junk yard to try my luck on Monday. Unless bleeding my coolant (again) is all it needs. WHy idle whY

The one manual I looked at specifically states that this part is calibrated by honda in the factory and is not meant to be disassembled or worked on.

That makes sense. I will tinker with it tomorrow and see if I can get it to work, but I have my eyes peeled for a replacement. I will update when I got something

We're getting to the point where we don't have a choice but to crack them open. They're old and tired and new ones aren't available. I need to do something with mine soon.

I've had a hard time finding a replacement. I'm going to see if I can have the plastic piece 3D printed and see if that works. Other than that to the junkyard I go

It sucks because Honda stopped using FITVs shortly after our cars, so we can't even rig something from a newer car in. Were just stuck.
