Column Switch Components Help

I purchased a partially disassembled assembly to replace a damaged one on a car I was hoping to buy. However, the purchase fell through due to the carriers transport conditions.

In the bag of sundry left over bits (from the seller) was the lower part plastic part pictured. Given that it looks like a contact component, the only place I can think of it goes is within the wiper switch. I'm stumped how it would fit though.

I may well be wrong and would appreciate any guidance anyone has.
