Just wondering because I have a '89 LX-i and since I'm doing this tranny swap I wanted to know that if as long as it's a LX-i or SE tranny that the gear ratios will be the same, regardless of year........ Like 87, 88 and 89 LX-i's share the same gear ratios for their manual trannies, right???

I want to say YES. Not 100% though. The AT's did change in 88, but I think the MT are the same in the 86-9 years. Someone hook him up.

I'm going to a junk yard tomorrow and I'm looking for an 87 MT (5th gear clogs stripped, and spline thinned a bit).

I know we have a 90something (91/92ish I THINK) engine in our 87 Accord (AT), so I was wondering if all the MTs for that generation are the same as well. I want my manual :D

From what I'm hearing, the 86/87 have the same gear ratios and the 88/89 have the same ratios..........:D So basically the 3gen trannies will fit regardless of year but the gearing will be different depending on the year tranny you get..........

I don't know much about gearing..and I'm not going to be racing anyone (well, I might leave one of my friends in the dust, but I can do that with my AT that misses when you stomp it).

But our 99 Accord V6 is a dif. story

Well trust me, if you're going to be doing a tranny swap to a manual you're going to want the year with the best gearing.........

Just got back from the junk yard, and the only MTs that I could find were 82ish. All else were taken :(

Oh, I did find one 87. It was a civic though, and I didn't know if I could use it.
