yesterday my accord had a total loss of power. i replaced the battery, and hoped it wasnt the alternater. still wouldnt start. replaced the plugs wires and cap and rotor and it fired right up, however i found a small amount of oil in the old cap. why:confused:

you have bad o-ring on distributor.

No, is not dist. o-ring, is the dist. bearing seal here. (http://www.ualberta.ca/~dg5/Honda/EngElec/24-16.html)
IMHO the seal is part of the bearing assy. U have to take the dist apart to replace that, clean it, not a bad idea..
Few drops of oil may actually help centrifugal advance and breaker plate move freely, but not past "leak cover" at the high voltage area (rotor & cap)!

where can i find that seal at? the dealership doesnt even have it.

Some underground shops should be able to rebuild it for you. Just ask around in your town.
