Hey guys, does the Type R Engine Oils from Honda work for our 3g engines? Cause im thinking of using it, and want to make sure it doesnt stuff the engine up or something? (My friends left over Type R oil cause he doesnt use it anymore)

i think they may be too thin for our engnines.
i know that newer engines use 5w-30 oil, and our engine needs 10w-30

Honda recommended 5W-30 when the cars were new. I have used 10W-30. One time I accidentally put in 5W-30 and nothing happened. Generally speaking the lighter the oil the better your fuel economy will be. You won't notice much, though. Synthetic 5W-30 won't cause you any problems at all.

I use 5W-30 cuz it's a thinner oil and it's easier on an older engine..
it's actually recomended to use thinner oils on an older engine..then the engine isn't working as hard...

or i will run 5W-30 in the winter and run 10W30 in the summer

Yeah you can do that, but I hear the lighter oil is a little harder on engine bearings but it does burn off easier in older engines. If you really wanna make a difference run mobil 1 10w-30. Im thinking about going that route myself.
