I've had the intake for a while now, but I got my valve cover from Jim and I put on some pretty loom and then cleaned the whole thing out at a car wash with some engine degreaser. It's starting to look pretty now!

LX-i Girl, good thing you took a picture of it now, because it will soon be gray instead of white! but great job. It looks kind of Angelical :D

PS. I did not know snakes in the engine bay were so popular.

lol her engine bay was pretty dirty, but not very greasy.. the only bad part was under the exhaust manfold, eveything else just had a fine layer of dirt...

it cleaned up nice though with the pressure hose!

soon it will be lowered and her car will really start to look nice! :)

there isn't a bracket, but it's at such an angle that it doesn't hit the brake line so it's not messed up, but chris' does hit his brake line, but he padded his brake line so it wouldn't get screwed up.

Ah yes. Let's have a look-see at the rest of it!

LX-i Girl
03-24-2003, 10:57 PM
haha i wish the rest of the car was nicer! the interior is going to be switched out with goldy's old interior which is very nice (although i wish i could afford to get leather) and my passenger side door has a nice dent in it (not from me, but previous owner). but when i get the dents out i plan to repaint it white and then do the interior carpets light gray, same with the seats, and then have all of the plastic pieces be white.....as for now, it's just going to have to look crappy until i have the money and time to get it perfect, but it will be one of these days!

yo real nice... i'm just not a fan of anything white on a place on the car where it's going to be 1) dirty all the time or 2) having to be cleaned all the time in order to stay white.

hey i notice alot of peeps here have the smooth valve covers, but mine has a texture and i dont think it would look good if i painted it, anybody have the textured valve cover and have painted it?

bobafett
03-26-2003, 05:59 PM
we bought 1 can of engine degreaser. and went to the "car wash" and sprayed down the engine bay with degreaser, and then rinsed it all off with a pressure hose. took about 10 minutes. and $8.00 total.

really not that tough. we should have taken a before and after pic! :) its amazing the difference!

LX-i Girl
03-26-2003, 07:47 PM
yeah, but i didn't like the engine degreaser we got because it didn't foam up and it stunk forever! i can't remember the name of the stuff that i prefer, but yeah just get a can of degreaser and hose it down....

Coroncho80
03-26-2003, 07:54 PM
Gunk is the one I use and it think its the best out there. They also have the engine detailer, it stays shiny forever :D

LX-i Girl
03-26-2003, 08:24 PM
yeah i use that brand, but they have more than one type of engine degreaser out. i like the blue and orange can where it gets all foamy....

Coroncho80
03-26-2003, 08:25 PM
naw, the one I use is white and orange. No foam, just the liquid.

LX-i Girl
03-26-2003, 09:17 PM
see that's what i used this time and it worked, but it smelled like ass and i had to drive around with my windows down for the longest time to get the smell outta there.

LMAO! Well said LX-i Girl. . . I'm thinking of degreasing my whole engine...(again)...but I don't wanna spray it down w/ the hose...it'll get my pearly white all wet..and then I'd have to dry it off...and re-wax it..bah, the trouble.

Gregs89AccordLxi
03-26-2003, 11:16 PM
i didnt say that cuz your a girl <wink><wink>, my dad once sprayed a whole can of Gunk on his engine and went to work after without spraying it down, by the end of the day he was sick and his car smelled like somethin died under his hood hehe

LX-i Girl
03-26-2003, 11:17 PM
that's ok...i know you didn't mean anything by it....

as for your dad though......hehe.....i think he needs to read some directions!

hey tell me how to take off the valve cover so i can paint mine too! ;) i tryed looking at it and was like :wtf: it looks a little confusing so since my car is light blue and the interior blue i was thinkin metallic blue valve cover! lol if i can figure out how to get the damn thing off lol i dont wanna break anything..:burn:

LX-i Girl
04-05-2003, 10:53 AM
there are 3 places on the top that you need to unscrew. they are 10mm, so any socket/wrench will do. after unscrewing those, make sure to remember your ground on the bolt to the right side. and to put it back when you put the valve cover back on. on the left side are a few peices that help support hoses. just remember their basic orientation so its easier to get the hoses back on, but if it works it works... nothing critical if you have it a different way.

sometimes they are stuck on there good if the last person used gasket sealer, so you may want to take a rag, and set it on there, and tap the valve cover with a rubber mallet to break the seal so you can take it off. it should be able to just wiggled up and off. then do your painting thing, and put everything back.

its really easy and should take less than 5min to take off. :P good luck.. post if you have trouble of course

I love your engine we have the same exact model, wow who woulda thought and we got the same exact olor shceme goin too

HondaBoy
04-05-2003, 10:50 PM
hey, dont forget its a good idea to get a new gasket for the valve cover after u take it off. they are usually not good to use again. i would highly reccomend gettin a new gasket when u take the valve cover off. in most cases i wont seal too great if u try and reuse it. unless its pretty new get a new gasket.

LX-i Girl
04-05-2003, 11:58 PM
yeah i defintiely got a new gasket
