Hi amp alt for hi amp power

I still have the car and she stranded me for a few hours yesterday and she needs a new alternator. I have currently 900 watts audio which is eventually going to be configured to around 1500 so I need a bigger alternator.

Who makes them? I can't find any online and the local shop won't make it bigger cuz he says it won't fit.

hmm I got my rewound from a guy on ebay selling upgraded alts and it only cost me like $140. It is a 140 amp rewound and ive been running it with no caps and a 1200w amp for well over a year now and its been putting out great power, it dims very slightly when im driving but dont forget i have no caps. Also it puts out almost nothing at idle, i have to rev the car to about 2000 to get full output. Im fine with that glitch, you might not and its a problem with all rewounds. All i can remember is the guys name wasnt alterstart on ebay, it was another guy doing civic alts.

yikes... umm the only way youre gonna get serious power out put at idle is gonna be either fitting a stinger or phoenix gold alternator (tough to do) or run dual stock alts or more. Tough to do

two things, rewindin the alt is good, and also get a cap, you'll be very very happy by doing these two simple things...

hah, I found a shop that could do it, some old guy built me one 150 amps for $145 installed, works great

Did he give you a power rating all across the rpm band or just peak?

ANy warranty on his work?

1 year, i guess i just have to take his word about the 150

its gotta be peak, and prolly about 125 when hot. I can noticeably see a difference when my alt gets up to temp, i seem to lose about 10-20 amps, but its not a big deal, the rewound alts are the best thing for the buck
