I have an '89 Honda Accord LXi and sometimes after i start the car i have tons of power but most of the time i dont have the kind of power and take off power is weak. What might cause these occastional power bursts and what can i do to always get this kind of performance?

check your fuel lines and filters.

i did check the fuel lines and filters and the filter was very plugged but when i changed it it still gave me that performance boost from time to time and there was no difference.

do you only seem to get that boost in power when cold? mine does the same thing, only expect giving me a boost of power, its weak up until a certain rpm, like 4000... but once the temp needle warms up a bit the power is always present

If your fuel filter was clog try taking it off again and dump the fuel left in the filter in a clear jar if there is trash in the filter could be you have trash in your gas tank and the fuel pump is sucking it up.

the reason yu get tons of power at start up is that the computer is running open loop, which means its not takin info from the sensors,my 88&89 accords does the same. and i belive there is a extra injector for cold start up's it injects alot more fuel into the motor. i know when i start my f-bird it pulls like no tomoro.
