Well, I decided to clean and paint some more parts out of my B20A.

I'm waiting to gather all the parts before any rebuild attempt.

I want my gasket sets and type-R pistons first :) :)

Meanwhile, I painted some parts and I think my valve cover came out real good.

I painted it LauRel Blue Metallic (B49M) Same color as my car.

I don't know how it will look under the hood but so far I like the look of it.

Here is what it looks like

Looks good carot. I have been doing odd things and i powdercoating a lot of things like the valve cover, hard line vac line setup, and misc brackets. Takes time but will look good and cant wait to get it in the car but still have to buy a bunch of stuff for the turbo end of things.

I like the valve cover. I hear you when it come to time and money. I have spent a lot of money lately and still have a ways to go. But in the end i think i will be happy with the turbo. I cant wait till we all get our B20A's going because we are all doing something a little different. I should be doing an order from Japan soon so i can let you know how it goes with that company in Osaka. But im buying the hard to get parts and all i really need now is the turbo manifold then i can save for my larger B20A parts order.

I'll have to order some gakets form Japan too. We might just order parts at the same time to save on shipping charges..

SWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

I have to brush up on all the research you and Yasu have done. I plan on doing the B20A swap as soon as I find an engine and a garage to do it in. Why are you using type-R pistons?

Valve cover looks wicked.

The type-R pistons will bump the compression of the engine. It now has 9.4:1 and it will go close to 10L5:1 with the stock type-R pistons. There is a 5-7 whp to get only there. With a bigger cam, ported head and intake, MSD ignition, headerand intake I'm confident that the B20A will make close to 175- 180 hp at the flywheel.

Those numbers might be underrated a bit but I prefer not to expect much and be surprised :)

bigger cam??? meaning more lift / overlap?

Carotman, have you checked the valve clearances of the Type-R pistons?

Were did you buy your B20A? I am yet to find a JDM B20A in New Mexico......IS there a company that has one in stock and shipping isn't too high???? I have a high paying job!!! Also thats the detail color I'm doing to my car, its gonna be Metalic Silver, with that Laurel Blue Metalic Paint for the Detail.

I have found an engine lift/ holder for like $250 at parts store here in town. I think that's a pretty average price for one. (Can't remember who asked how much they were)

I used scrub pads :) hehe

I really used SOS scrub pads with the blue stuff in them... don't use them on painted surfaces tough. It does wonders on aluminium parts.

Just be careful not to get steel whool in your engine internals..

I used degreaser to get all the oil and grease off, then I scrubbed the block to give it a nice shine.
