Hey all...

My birthday is soon and I want to get some 6x9s for the back of my LX. As you know this car has 6x5s all around. I was searching and read that you will need to cut the metal in the back to a hole-size of around 6x9. Are there any problems in doing this?

I plan to get 6x9 speaker boxes that the speakers will sit in (go in the trunk).

The factory grill will not fit if i do this. Will going to the junkyard and getting the LX-I or SE-I grill do, or will i need to order one? I don’t know if my speakers I am getting come with grills (Cerwin Vega, HED series).

Any complications or other things I could consider? Thanks

I custom cut mine in-between the 6's... so there are 4 speakers on the rear deck. You cant see the top but this is the only pic I have that you can see them from inside the trunk...

dont but the speaker boxes....I guarantee u wont get the same affect as u would if u cut out the proper fittings. I put 6x9's in the back of my '89 Lxi....of course they wouldnt fit but i didnt cut a thing..made a few minor mods using the stock speaker casing and the new ones...they look pretty damn good...u wanna see some pics..lemme know...good luck either way
