gas guage trauma

there was a light out in my dash behind the gas guage so i took the dash apart. when i took the needle off of the gas guage the pin behind it snapped. how do i fix this?

also, on my 94 accord the gas guage only works like half of the time. any ideas?

You can replace the pins or get a new gauge cluster for your car. As for your 94, I really don't know, but maybe you can refill your gas every 300 miles or so. Like, everytime you fill up your tank, reset the trip meter and that'll tell you when to fill up again.

i don't want to replace the guage cluster that can get expensive. how would you replace the pin? as for the 94 it works often enough where i can tell how much gas i have, it's just irritating.

You can take the pin off and just replace it with a "new" pin. I have never tried taking mine off, but it can be done. You might wanna ask the guys who's got indiglo gauges about taking the pin off.

im sorry but it just seems to me like you think it's needle or something. it's the part that the needle connects to. if that's not what you're thinking than im a moron.

Oh, that part. I see now. Jeez, that's really messed up. I don't know about the other guys, but if I were you, I'd think about getting a "new" gauge cluster. Try getting one from the junkyard cuz that's the cheapest it'll cost you.

forget the junkyard you can find one on ebay for a hella lot less than $10... BTW i think you actually ruined the gauge, dont think you can fix it. I busted one myself and just got a new cluster.

why can't i just replace the guage? it's pretty simple to get out.

you can but its hard to find just the gauge around... just get the whole cluster. Its good to have spare parts anyways.

if i can find one cheap enough i will. i have to do an engine tranny and clutch as well as paint it. some peopl would say junk the car but i think i should be able to do eveything for 600 so i think it's worth it since the car was free.

you should be able to replace just the pion!
You might have to go to a dealership but you can just get the pins!

yea i boua parts car that i took the guage pod out of because it had less miles on it. so it's all fixed. but now i have to replace the speedo cable and that looks like it could be a bitch.
