Well I started bead blasting the rims yesterday. Took 2.5 hours for one rim and I still found some spots I need to blast again. Well I found out that the rims are stamped with 13" X 40. So I guess they're 13's not 14's like I measured. So what kind of performance tires with a nice looking tread are there? I talked to a guy and he though Faulkin made 13" perf. tires. I really wanted Yokohama's or Pirellis though. I'll be bead blasting them most of the day so I don't have much time to check out the tire stores today. Thanks for the help, any suggestions would help.

I have to say that the rims look so nice right now. So I think I will just clear them and not paint them. I messed up one of the center caps though. I found out that the beads were too tough for the cap. It put like 2 little dents in it and I was like ohhh ssshhhhiiiiiiiiiiittt!!!!!! So any ideas on how to fix that would be nice too. I might and see if a tire shop might have some that would fit in there and I could sand it down and paint the H on there.

why don't you just measure them to be sure?

Falken are seriously good performance tires. You can get them in high or low profile tyres, and if you've got 13'' or 14'' wheels, then maybe a little higher profile could look good.

Falkens are definitely going to be my next set, and come to think of it, pretty soon.

Um I was told Faulkins don't have a 13" tire. I found some really nice Yokohamas' for $180 shipped. And I need to get some money before I can buy them. Hopefully I will get a lot of money for my birthday on 4/20/03. I have to wait a little bit to get the tires b/c my computer died and I got $1500 credit at Dell and I spent $1500 on one of their Manager's Specials. Got the Dimension 8520 desktop. Upgraded everything to the max. Digital camera, 4 year warranty, their premium sound system (with sub), DVD/CDRW burner and CD Rom. It's a Pentium 4 processor with 2.53Ghz. I got the 60GB hard drive.

Oh and I got $100 from my mom so I can pay my friend to seal the wheels, paint them, and clear them. And put my hoodscoop on. Now I just need $220 to get tires installed. Just thought I would update you guys b/c I haven't been on here in a few days. It's b/c my computer went to sh*t.

Well I got the dell today and I'm getting my hoodscoop installed tomorrow. I paid a friend $100 to seal the rims paint them and clear them. I will pick them up tomorrow. Does anyone know how to install those chrome valve stems? I want to put those on the rims. I just officially got my job at Pepsi today. So I will be able to buy tires in like 2 weeks or so.

just have them put on chrome stems when they mount and balance the tires. you might have to buy them ahead of time.

Good idea. I didn't really want to mess with the stems b/c I might screw something up. I have some time so I will probably find out how much they are and buy them.

Alright I was wondering if I could get a wider tire perhaps for better traction on lauches. I was told by a tire guy that you can get wider tires and still be ok. The size was 185/70 R13 for the right size. What could I go to and still be ok for a width?

Here's the possible tires I could get with my 13's

What do you guys think I should get. I like the Yokohama Avid T4's.

the widest tire you can get on our cars is a 205, and i think a 215 but it will rub some, so you have nothing to worry about with a 13" tire. isn't 185 stock on our cars?

Yeah it is stock. So could I get a 195/70 R13 ? or a 205/70 R13 on these 13" rims? I wanted a little wider tire for better launches, but will everyday driving make them balder faster?

a 205/70/15 might be getting pretty tall, but width wise you won't have any problems up to 205. but that tire sounds like it has monster truck sidewall.

Yeah it does it like the stock tire. 185/70 R13 is the stock size. I'll probably just get that size just to be safe.

the stock 185/65/13 is 7.28" wide, and the 205/70/13 is 8.07" wide so you do gain some good area on the contact patch, but the stock tire is 22.47" tall and the 205 is 24.29" tall. i don't know if that will create a problem, but that is as big as a drag slick, so you will loose a lot of low end and gain top end.

205/50/15s for example are 23.07" tall, so they are a more proper plus size. even a 215/35/18 is 23.9" tall, so that 205/70/13 would be pretty huge. you would probably have rubbing issues, especially if you plan on lowering it.

Yeah I will just stick with the stock size b/c I don't want to mess up the speedo or the power.
