sorry for asking this question. but i have been reading up on the engine swaps and it is pretty confusing. i just blew my engine in my 87 LXI with an automatic tranny. i was woundering what would be a good swap for me. Something that I can eventually put some money into modifing it making it faster, and something where i dont have to spend 20 grand doing it. anyway i could really use your help by telling me about what i would need if it isn't too much trouble. also if i was to do an engine swap is there a market for some of my original parts like my tranny or parts from my engine? I need help!!!!!!!! thanks

Well, since you have to beg your dad, the best bang for the buck would be to get an 88/89 LXi motor with low mileage. Since the intake and exhaust manifold is different, use your 87 manifolds and bolt that onto the new block. That will give you a nice running motor, easy to do compared to other swaps, cheap, and the high compression the 88/89 LX-i's had should make it a bit more powerful.

what about something with a little meat on it. i am not too worried about the money it will be there when i need it.

Well, if your looking into getting another engine other than stock. The next motor i would choose would be the B16 of course :)
This motor has trillions of aftermarket support available for future mods.
Total project including motor will run around 3 to 4 k.

just got back from the honda man and i need a new engine because i only have compression in 1 cylinder and there is a crack in the block and all this other shit. it is going to cost $1300 to put a new (used) engine. but he wants to put in a 1.8 and i want the origional 2.0 but it dosent matter because i dont have the money now anyway i am going to have to sell one of my cars

Definitely go for the B18, man. You'll even have a sleeper in Butte County!! And best of all, it's a 3G Accord.

Ya. Go for the "1.8"(B18) It be much better then the origional 2.0

the guy wont do it he says "oh you will lose depenability" so my mom freaks out and says she wont pay for that? he probably gets a good deal on the 1.8 and then sells it to me for more.\

I don't think your mom will pay for a B series swap anyway... ;)
Good luck!

i decided to crack it open and have a gander. well my head gasket was split in two pieces. so i think i will take it over to him to see what he has to say. he swor up and down and he knew for a fact that it was a cracked block. but am going to fix it myself. this is my first time taking apart my engine WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!

When pulling or assembling a head, you MUST follow a pattern for tighning or loosening head bolts. If not, your head will warp.

Take it to a machine shop and have them check the head to make sure it's ok, (specialy after head gasket damage).
