18 inch wheels

well my friends has some 18 inch rims and he said he would give me them as soon as he gets his new rims. well i was just wondering will they even fit on a 89 lx-i 2 door? if you can let me know then it would be alot of help. thanx.

I think some people here on 3g's have put 18" wheels on their car b4. The trouble with increasing the wheel by that much is that u have to get some serious lo pro tires. Don't forget that the tires are also part of your suspension, you will be seriously affecting your ride quality. It will be very much bumpier than right now. Going that big will also be harder on your CV's and suspension parts and you may have some issues with rubbing if you are not careful. Your speedo will also be out quite a bit. IMO, it is really not worth going that big. If you do a search in here Mikes89Accord (I think) made a chart somewhere of what offsets and all that juicy stuff u should use on our cars. Also post the offset of your friend's wheels and we'll be able to tell u more.:)

Check the wheels to see if they stamped with their offset. You need at least 45mm offset. The big catch is in 18" you do not have a 205mm tread width to use, you have to run 215/35-18. That 215mm width and the fact that that size of tire is taller than oem conspire to constrain your ability to stuff them inside your rear fender wells, hence the big deal with the 45mm offset.

Go 17". That way you can still lower nice, and drive good. 18's are just so big for a 3G.

18''s will fit fine, but the car will sit a litle higher then it could if it had 17''s. The only tires that will work are 215/35 series. If you want you can but mine. Or I'll trade them for gun metal 17''s with tires and a Sparco steering wheel.

The only down side to having 18''s is that they don't look like 18''s, mine look like 16''s, but its just the style of the rims I have...

Iv seen 18"s on a 3g around here. He had no trouble with them and thay looked liked 20s on the car he had about a .5" drop on it.

the18" will be around a 1/2" bigger in diameter then the 17". But if you just want looks go with the 18". Performance wise they will suck.

if the 18's are free take them, don't listen to anyone else's opinion if it's gonna make you go out and buy 17's. my friend has an 87 lx with 19's and he's rollin fine

I recently switched from 18" to 17" and my 18's looked huge like windmills! I don't what kinda 18's you have.:confused:

Definately go w/ the 17's if your concerned w/ performance. 18's will bogg your car down and be too heavy if they're made of chrome
