I used the aluminum 1500 degree paint from duplicolor.

I ran the car for a while to heat the header up then coated it while still hot.

It makes a huge difference, before I was never able to stick my hand within 4 inches of the header before my hand started to sizzle... now I can almost touch the suface and still not get burnt.

the paint bubbled while on the hot manifold... but everything came out even... the paint seemed to suck onto the header.

You'll need some heavy duty gloved to touch the header when hot... I tired some leather ones and some cheapo mechanic gloves and they got burn marks and or melted which ended up burning my hand even after I let the header go. :(

wait a minute, why did you heat it up?
i thought you can just paint it without heating up.
where did you get your paint?

So you warmed it up and then took the header off and painted it? Or just painted it while on the car still?

it would be easier to stick a header into the over for about 30 minutes.

Yeah so there won't be any overspray on other engine parts.

yeah I guess that's true for the majority of people here cause they still have all those a/c hoses and other junk in the way.
