a/c problem

ok heres the thing everytime i push my a/c button in theres this sound that sounds like a jack hammer hittin cement comming from underneath my hood......i know its not normal.....just wondering what u guys might think it is?

Hmmm... do the RPM's go way down when this happens? Sounds like it could possibly be a frozen (seized) compressor, and when you turn it on the clutch is still engaging (??). You can turn the inside part of the compressor by hand with the car off (if it's not frozen). If it's real hard to turn, or won't turn at all, there's your problem. If it's a Keihin compressor, then it's probably seized, LOL.

i am with Jared check the clutch by hand while engine off ! if it turns if it engages when the AC is put ON !
