rev problem!

ok heres the deal my friend is looking at buying a 1990 prelude theres one problem when sitting idle it revs from 1000 to 2000 over and over is it a senor problem?

My accord did it for a while but all i did was drop the Idle down. I have fuel injection so it wasnt a carb if you were going to ask. It worked for me. Try it

at worst it's the distributor
it could be air in the cooling system or the fast idle vavle
