stock suspension.........leans in turns!

well in almost every post that I put a pic of my car in....they all say I need it lowered.........well....right now....I am running stock on 17'z......leans in turns pretty bad.......and with the stock 13'z it leans just as bad.............will getting my car lowered fix this? what springs should I get to reduce lean and still have a fairly smooth ride..........I dont wanna go any lower than 2inch'z....and I herd that coilovers bounce alot......so I want springs.........any help would be great......thx guys!

tires and wheels have no effect on how much your car leans in turns. lowering your car with stiffer springs will not allow it to lean as much and improve handling. that's how lowering springs work. as for bouncyness, if you have struts valved to match the spring rates of you springs, they shouldn't be bouncy. exessively stiff springs will give you a harsh ride on the street. most coilovers for our cars, like the Ractives, are cheap and will be too stiff for comfortably driving on the street. H&Rs or Neuspeed springs (which i have) are the closest to stock spring rates and will give you the softest ride and won't be bouncy if you get struts to match. they only drop the car about 1.5" and are comfortable and are a definite improvement in handling.

You still did not cover what causes it to lean...

you need sway bars to get rid of the lean.. the stiffer springs will help but the springs/strut control the compression/rebound of bumps..... the swaybars control the leaning. If you like the way the car handles but want to get rid of some leaning... get bigger swaybars.

Get some still eibach springs, and koni struts all, around and add a front sturt tower bar(helps a little), and your car won't even lean in curves, I promise, I have those three things and my car stays so flat and even and thats with 18''s. I can corner and whip in and out of traffic on the freeway goin 80 and the car never leans an inch...

Yes a stock accord, does have a fair amount of lean when pushing the car while cornering. Since you have a DX, your car lacks a rear sway bar. At the very least visit a junk your and pull a rear sway bar off a LXI. It'll help, it's cheap and super easy to do. And by intalling stiffer lowering springs, that will further reduce your body roll while cornering. Just make sure you install struts that are up to the task of the stiffer springs. I'd recommend either 1.5" drop springs from Neuspeed/H&R with Koni struts (koni's are carried at www.tirerack.com or www.shox.com ) or for a 2" drop look at speed tech springs by suspension techniques at www.nopionline.com, also run them with the Koni struts.

One more thing I want to point out to you that will benefit you is this. When you have a car that has such short sidewall's, like your 17's do and your car has allot of body roll, your tires are kinda letting you down, here's what I mean. With such unforgiving short sidewall's, your tires can't distort to keep more of the thread on the ground with allot of body roll. Reduce your body roll and you'll be keeping more more of your tire thread gripping on the road, theirby improving the amount of grip you have while cornering.

BTW, coilovers only bounce when people try to run weak ineffective struts with them. Any spring will cause bounce if you try and run weak struts with them.

At the advice of Jim i went with the Koni struts on my 87 and was very pleased with their performance, I also had a eibach springs, Lxi front sway bar with polyurethane bushings, and an rear sway bar. I could corner with little or no lean and I still had the stock tires. Your setup makes all the difference in the handling characteristics of your car.

I plan on using a similar or if not better set up on the 89 I currently have.
