nah but some motorcycles are. Carbs are no longer used because of the cleanliness of EFI and poerformance gains; less pollution, higher gas milage, more power, why would anyone still make a carbed car? The Honda engineers tried to get the carbed cars as clean as the EFI ones and if you've ever seen a carbed 3rd gen you know what a mess it is, it would be almost impossible to get the emmissions of todays ULEV EFI cars from any carbed car.

Geez I think even some of the new John Deere lawn tractors (and maybe some others too) are fuel injected. I could be thinking of something else, but I think that's what it was. I know the new Honda AquaTrax waverunner is fuel injected (and it's turbo'd, and has more HP than our 3geez  )

I think carbs pretty much disappeard by 1990 on production cars in the us. It was cheaper for the manufactures to go fi then add enough emissions controls to a carb to meet emissions standards. They still make carbs, holly and weber are still around to mention a few, they just don't sell them with cars.

The following companies still make carbed engines:

Volkswagen
General Motors

Can you guess the model?

Hint: answers to Volkswagen and GM are trick answers.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but YEAH carbs are still sold with new cars, just not in the United States.

The Hindustan Ambassador (an Indian car) for example is a badge engineered Morris Oxford, a car that was introduced in 1948!! Drum brakes all around, manual steering, and a carbed pushrod 1.8l four banger which I believe is slightly newer than the original design dating back to the MGB in 1962.

BTW. The answer to my question regarding Volkswagen and Chevrolet still making carbed engines.

Volkswagen

You can buy a brand new original Volkswagen Beetle in Mexico with carbs.

Mercruiser Marine uses GM engine blocks to make their V8 boats (which can still be bought with a marine version of the quadrajet carb.) It's not really a GM but oh well.
