you don't have a PGMFI light if you are carbureted... (LX DX usualy are carbureted unless the motor was swapped)
Does your temp guage work? ... it may also be for the oil pressure sender... I forgot what color the wires were...
it may also be the ground wire that connects to the thermostat housing...
What kind of connection tab is it? is it a large plastic connector or a small bullet connector?
if it's a plastic connector what color is the plastic?

the connector is a small tab ,looks like another tab (flat) might slide into it .it is metal. red and green wire, same colr wire coming off the back of carb on the solenoid.looks like someone ran a hot wire from the deal just above where the main plug wire olugs into ,the left side towards the top by the fender, the hot wire connects to the red and green wire.when i disconnect it the engine idles high.

It may connect to the starter... if it has the flat tab... casue thats the only wire that I know of with that kind of connection.

if you disconnect that wire you're car will stop flowing fuel to the idle passage.
but who knows... maybe you were running really rich at idle... and somehow disconnecting the solenoid helped.

actually it is impossible to idle engine without this solenoid. i tried already. no matter how rich i make it, it just doesn't want to keep idle. it will run fine but it will not idle.
